Bloomberg’s double bubble

- BY DARREN WITCOOP

FOOTBALL MIKE BLOOMBERG believes Haroldeans have been worthy double winners.

The MJSL champions signed off their season by lifting the Shonn Trophy following a hard-fought victory over Leeds Maccabi.

It was the perfect response from the setback of losing the Harold Feldman Trophy against the same opposition just days earlier.

The lively Max Barnett scored the decisive goal in the 63rd minute and boss Bloomberg said: “Losing to Leeds was a wake-up call but we rectified those mistakes.

“They overloaded us in midfield and actually wanted it more. So I made some changes, changed the system and I was pleased with the results.

“It was a really good and competitive game against a good team. Leeds will be a threat to us next season without doubt.”

Leeds Maccabi failed to complete the cup double but had no complaints at the score-line. Now they plan on coming back stronger next season and boss Adam Kristall said: “We were just beaten by a side who were bang up for it. But we’ve done ourselves proud this season.

“We look forward to next and going one better and we’d love to regain the league title. It’s been a real team effort and you need that to progress as a club.”

There was more good news for Haroldeans when MJSL Golden Boot winner Adam Shiffman was confirmed as the MJSL Player of the Year.

The striker registered 26 goals in a memorable campaign. Max Barnett received the top young player accolade.
