FIVE REASONS TO BUY...

-

in a Bentayga in Edinburgh on a Monday morning and told you to be in London by, say, the same evening, you wouldn’t bat an eyelid. It’d be a pleasure. But quite frankly, it probably doesn’t matter what I think of it. This is the car Bentley customers have spent years baying for and it’s really rather brilliant. It’s the benchmark by which all other SUVs should be measured against, says Bentley. Seems fair to me. ...THE NEW MAZDA MX-5 RF 1 The new MX-5 RF (on sale now) becomes the top model in the Mazda MX-5 range. Not only has it been given a rather natty powered folding metal roof, the RF also comes with a lot more standard kit.

2 Like the regular MX-5 soft-top, the RF is available with a 129bhp 1.5-litre engine or the revvy 158bhp 2.0-litre version. There’s an option to upgrade to a 6-speed automatic gearbox but my recommendation would be to stick with the standard 6-speed manual transmission as this is most suited to the car and engine.

3 A new 4.6inch colour screen brings a touch of modernity to the MX-5 RF’s cabin. Apart from displaying the usual stuff — radio, SatNav, fuel economies etc — it shows the status of the opening or closing of the roof, too.

4 The MX-5 RF may be one the smallest two-seater sports car currently on sale, yet it has a boot big enough to swallow two good sized overnight bags (even with the roof stowed away).

5 The RF commands a £2000 premium over the standard MX-5, which means a starting price of 27,000. In either guise, the MX-5 remains the most honest sports car money can buy and the best fun you can have with your clothes on.
