Managers step down

- BY DANNY CARO

FOOTBALL JOSH and Elliott Dagul have stepped down as co-managers of Brady Maccabi following a six-year stint.

The brothers had been working together with Joel Nathan who will continue in the role on his own.

Elliott said: “It’s time to hand over the reins. We’ve enjoyed some great successes, including back-to-back league titles in our first two years but feel as though now is the perfect time to let Joel take the club forward.”

Josh commented: “We’d like to thank Joel for all his support behind the scenes and all the players who have played for us over the years.

“We have no doubt Brady will be challenging for honours again soon.”

Hendon United have unveiled Jordan Sapler as their new manager for season 2018/19 after title-winning boss Greg Corin confirmed he is stepping down to concentrate on playing.

Corin led Hendon to the MGBSFL Premier Division title in his one season at the helm — they were denied the double after losing the Cyril Anekstein Cup Final to Oakwood on penalties.

“I am keen to concentrate on playing as much as possible, which was hindered slightly by the management role last year,” remarked Corin.

He believes Sapler is well-equipped to lead Hendon into the new Maccabi League season, and said: “Jordan is a young coach with good credentials. We are confident he will handle the role well and lead the next generation of talented Hendon players towards winning more trophies in the future.

“The younger players want the club to re-establish a good midweek training session and an improved level of coaching and Jordan’s undoubted commitment to the role is what is needed to meet the team’s demands.”

Reflecting on his time in charge, Corin went on to say: “It’s been a pleasure to manage what is truly an exceptionally talented crop of players and although I intend to sign again for Hendon as a player, I fully expect my level of involvement within the team to diminish this year as the young players evolve into the leading members of the squad.

Incoming manager Jordan Sapler expressed “delight” upon filling the position. “Hendon have long been the top club in Jewish football so to be a part of that is great,” he said.

“I’m excited to work with a great group of boys who share the same attitude and approach to the game that I have.

“I’m looking forward to working with Greg and Russ Corin, Avi Korman, Ari Last and Josh Bentley and hope to lead the club towards more silverware.”

Jason Stein believes the arrival of midfielder Elliot Espinoza will ensure Oakwood B are one of the fittest teams in the MGBSFL.

Stein insists that the former North London Raiders B and Scrabble player will boost an Oakwood team looking to mount a promotion challenge in Division One.

“I met Elliot four years ago and have been trying to sign him every summer since,” said Stein about Espinoza, who is also a personal trainer. “I’m over the moon the deal has finally got over the line as he’s one of the fittest players in the league and will bring a lot of nous and skill to the team.”
