Kosky proud of effort levels as depleted Lions limp out

- BY JC REPORTER

FOOTBALL LONDON Lions bowed out of the FA Cup after going down to a solitary goal against higher league opposition.

Missing a string of regulars, the Lions display grit and resilience following an early onslaught. The defence of Ollie Craig, Adam Lipman, Sam Hamerton and Adam Harvey held firm, while goalkeeper David Myers produced two excellent saves.

The plan to frustrate Chalfont worked well during the first half, while Keano Deacon and Austin Lipman threatened on the break.

Liron Mannie broke forward well in the second half before both teams had efforts ruled out. Chalfont broke the deadlock with a far post header 16 minutes from time but try as they might, the Lions were unable to level against well-organised opponents.

Stand-in Lions manager Nathan Kosky commented: “This was an excellent performance which required a huge amount of focus and effort from every single player. Our aim was to frustrate Chalfont and attack them on the break and the guys did just that.

“The only disappointment was of course letting in a relatively late goal, and not quite finding the equaliser we possibly deserved.”
