Frustration for Faithfold

- BY DANNY CARO

MGBSFL PREMIER DIVISION FAITHFOLD DOC MM A 3 ML LIONS 3

Avi Markiewicz reflected on a missed opportunity as Faithfold’s title hopes suffered a blow after a late strike from Lions’ hat-trick hero Reiss Mogilner. Markiewicz (2) and the in-form David Leiwy struck for Faithold in an action-packed contest. Player-manager Markiewicz commented: “In the end we felt like it was two dropped points.” But his counterpart, Sam Marchant of Lions, insisted his team were worthy of the draw. “It was a well-fought match and the result was a fair one. But we didn’t play our normal game or capitalise on the gaps in the Faithfold defence. ”

DIVISION ONE REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A 4 JEWDINESE 2

Kier Dickson (2), top-scorer Nate Kashket and Dan Andrews helped Redbridge open a four-point lead at the top after ending nine-man Jewdinese’s unbeaten run. Scott Oldstein and Bran-

don Sassoon registered for Jewdinese, who had Sim Cohen and Zach Collins sent off. Redbridge joint-manager Sam Rank said: “We knew we were in for a tough game. Jewdinese played very well and had a lot of the ball during the first half. But goals change games and our clinical finishing was the difference.” Jewdinese boss Darren Lawrence admits “the title is now out of our hands as this game was make or break for us”. He said: “We hope Redbridge can beat Fairlop to aid us in our quest for second place. We won’t stop fighting until the last game.”

NL GALAXY 3 BAYERN MINCHA 1

Three goals from player-manager Luke Lewis ensured Galaxy returned to winning ways as they moved into the top three with victory over Bayern. “It was a superb response to a difficult few weeks,” admitted Lewis. “We’re up to third now – it’s certainly not where we want to be, but we’re working on it.” Avi Solomon netted for Bayern, and joint-manager Alon Pinhas remarked: “We are all gutted. However, we look forward to the second half of the season, where we will do everything we can to bounce back and get wins against the teams we failed to do so over the last few weeks.”

DIVISION TWO FC TEAM 9

NL RAIDERS MASTERS 1

Richard Salmon (3) inspired FC Team to their third win as they gave Raiders a football master-class. Connor Perl and Eddie Sternberg added two apiece, with Mitch Young and Eitan Ben-Zion adding the gloss in another polished performance. “We are playing some brilliant, attacking football at the moment and it is great to be part of it,” enthused player-manager Young. “Raiders could not deal with our attacks and they we blew them away. We will score against any team and now we have some consistency, we should climb the table pretty quickly.” Jonny Blain fired a consolation for Raiders, and joint-player-manager James Cartmell admitted: “FC Team were obviously worthy winners. They scored some good goals while we were very poor.”

FAITHFOLD DOC MM B 0 REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B 3

Redbridge B knocked promotion rivals Faithfold B off top spot thanks to goals from Ben Sollosi, Max Aston and Adam Shafron. RJC boss Richard Bronzite reflected on “a great win”. He commented: “We were in complete control throughout the second half in what was a really clinical performance.”

FAITHFOLD DOC MM C 2 MILL HILL DONS 1

Jonathan Marrache fired a double as Faithfold C finally got off the mark with an impressive win over the Dons. Top-scorer Zach Cohen replied. Faithfold player-manager Ben Kfir commented: “Mill Hill wanted it, but we wanted it more. We battled hard and we’ll build on this result.”

SCRABBLE FC B 3 TEMPLE FORTUNE 1

Jon Yantin believes “experience paid dividends” as goals from Lloyd Becker, Alex Bourne and Daniel Ruckin ensured Scrabble B returned to winning ways. Daniel Vandermolen claimed Fortune’s consolation but their misery was compounded by a red card to Josh Klepper for violent conduct.
