Krell casts his magic spell

- BY DANNY CARO

FOOTBALL AVI Goldberg saluted hat-trick hero Ethan Krell as title hopefuls HMH climbed above Faithfold A with a scintillating 5-1 win against them in the MGBSFL’s Premier Division.

Krell capitalised on some sloppy Faithfold defending to register a first-half treble. Alex Moss and Josh Dreyfuss completed the rout in a game HMH played with 10 men for 60 minutes following the dismissal of Jake Norton.

“It was a consummate performance from the lads, despite being a man down,” said HMH manager Goldberg. “Ethan Krell produced a superb display in what was a dominant team performance.”

Faithfold player-manager Avi Markiewicz, who scored his team’s consolation, admits his team “were not good enough”. He said: “We found it really difficult to play on that pitch. HMH were more direct and enjoyed a lot more success.”

Late strikes from Shai Davidi and Rob Hershkorn helped Los Camden A recover from a Rob Cohen strike to beat Brady Maccabi 2-1. Camden manager Stirling Kay said: “I’m proud of the boys as we had to rely on some players that hadn’t played for the A-team this season . They were all excellent in getting us over the line.”

Brady’s Joel Nathan expressed frustration and said: “I’ve told the boys to have a long and hard look at themselves as they know it was a game we should have won. They must learn about gamemanagement when leading. I can’t fault their effort and desire but it is not good enough and they know it.”

Aaron Dias described Fairlop FC as “winning machines” after they clawed back a two-goal deficit to beat Oakwood

B 4-3 in Division One. Bradley Gayer, Kai Vale, Harrison Grant and James Jaconelli were the marksmen for a Fairlop team who remain unbeaten this season. Dias summed it up: “After an embarrassing first half, we kept our composure and knew the chances would come. That is why we will be champions.” Oakwood’s goals came through Dan Ash, Harvey Kaye and Dani Dennison. Joint-manager Simon Field admitted “sloppy mistakes costs us”.

North London Raiders returned to winning ways, with Scott Waissel (2), Charlie Kasler, Aron Gale and an own goal easing them past Bayern Mincha 5-2. “It was a sensational second-half performance from the boys after a slow start in which we trailed twice,” said NLR’s Jake Yudelowitz.

An injury-time penalty from top-scor- er James Millet earned Hertswood Vale a draw against Mill Hill Dons. Josh Cinna had put the Dons ahead as they pushed the Division Two leaders all the way. Dons boss Brandon Hamme commented: “A complete sucker-punch in the dying moments cost us three points.” Vale joint-manager Jacob Emanuel believes his team’s perseverance was rewarded. “Faced with a mighty challenge, the boys have shown incredible courage to equalise at the death,” he said.

Zack Neiman, Josh Green, Matt Leader, Ricky Lawrence and Craig Cohen ensured SPEC FC returned to winning ways with an impressive 5-2 victory over promotion rivals Faithfold B. SPEC player-manager Ricky Lawrence said: “Our second-half performance was possibly the best we’ve played all season.” Chaim Gothold and Gav Noe replied for Faithfold, and boss Martin Smulovitch commented: “After dominating the first half, we somehow contrived to concede five goals in the second half. Full credit to SPEC for taking advantage of our lacklustre display.” Steven Black dedicated

Temple Fortune’s 4-0 win to goalkeeper Lee Fegan, who is retiring following an 11-year stint at the club. Danny Sherman (2), Daniel Vandermolen and Gab Stone steered Fortune to their fourth victory as they crushed Scrabble FC B. Black said: “We showed maturity, patience and tactical awareness to win the game. A final word must go to Lee Fegan whose last appearance was his 247th for the club. We were thrilled to send him off with yet another clean sheet.”
