Dame Edna, the Mahjong maven

APPEARING at the JW3 dinner this week, Barry Humphries was asked, was Dame Edna Jewish?

“Well, I haven’t seen much of her lately,” he said.

But, he added, when on stage in Broadway “she did say she thought she was possibly Jewish — and the reason for that was that she could play Mahjong at the age of five.

“That got a better laugh in New York” he said — which brought a bigger laugh from the JW3 audience.
