Doughnut dignitaries
MONDAY was an especially busy day for Jewish VIPs doing the doughnut rounds. First came the Board of Deputies gathering in Parliament, where Shadow Education Secretary Angela Rayner turned Chanukah into a female helicopter, pronouncing the ch as in chocolate. And then off down the road to Downing Street for Mrs May’s seasonal bash.
Brexit broiges forced the PM to miss her own party, where competition to be on the guest list can be fierce. One of those who made the cut this year was Stamford Hill activist Shraga Stern, thorn in the side of Jewish establishments, and now elevated to the ranks of those deemed worthy to eat latkes in high places.
