Billy Lee, Zac Brin and Aaron Goldberg helped promotion-chasing Jewdinese make a big statement of intent, beating a strong Raiders team 3-1 in Wembley. Charlie Kasler replied for Raiders. Victorious ’Nese boss Darren Lawrence said: “This was a game in which we perhaps did not dominate or play to the best of our ability, but winning ugly is a vital trait to have. We showed great character and togetherness today.” Raiders joint-manager Jake Yudelowitz said: “It was a poor performance. They had two chances and scored three goals. We had at least 10 shots on target. Same story.”

Aaron Dias’s men go into 2019 two points off leaders North London Galaxy with a game in hand. Two goals from Josh Green, and others from top-scorer Zack Neiman, Elliott Wallis and Lawrence secured SPEC’s seventh victory. Lawrence explained: “Leading 3-0 at half-time we let Scrabble back into the game on a couple of occasions, but we did enough to secure the points and get the nine out of the nine we targeted from our last three games.”

Scrabble’s goals came through Bradley Lazarus and Lloyd Becker. Boss Jon Yantin said: “We pulled it back to 4-2, only to be left deflated by a harsh penalty decision, which all of SPEC were equally surprised about. This effectively handed them the game. We
