Here’s to queer beer

THERE WAS one drink that in particular captured the spirit of Limmud Festival this year, Proud beer.

Some of the proceeds of sales go to LGBTQ causes, while it was served only after receiving rabbinical clearance for kashrut.

Brewers of the limited edition India pale ale donate 20p from every bottle sold to LGBTQ+ charities.

It was offered at a couple of events during Limmud — a “Queer beer and shiur” session at the pre-festival Shabbaton and later at Laviot’s pub quiz on Sunday night.

Laviot, a new organisati­on for queer Jewish women, was launched earlier in summer this year.
