Nursery gets great Ofsted

- BY SIMON ROCKER

A NURSERY opened at Holland Park Sephardi Synagogue two years ago has won an outstanding rating from Ofsted.

Founded by Israelis Keren and Assaf Ben-Ezra, it has emulated the success of their other nurseries in Hampstead Garden Suburb and at Belsize Park Synagogue, which are also graded outstanding.

Ofsted praised the “excellent relationship” staff at Keren’s Nursery, Holland Park, enjoy with children and families. “Children know that they have someone special they can rely on in the absence of their parents,” Ofsted’s reporting inspector said.

A “rich, broad and varied” curriculum provided a “vast range of skills” to take into the next stage in learning. Excellent support was given to children learning English as an additional language.

There was also good news from Ofsted for the Edgware of Lubavitch kindergarten. Ranked as requiring improvement earlier in the year, it has now been upgraded to good. The kindergarten had increased the number of qualified staff and ensured that those handling food were trained in food hygiene.
