Inspiring event at US
ISSUES RANGING from fundraising to the future of centrist Orthodoxy were discussed at the United Synagogue’s Inspired Jewish Leadership conference, held in Watford and attended by 150 lay representatives from US congregations.
Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis told delegates he was “in awe at what the United Synagogue is achieving across so many communities and across so many age groups. We have a great organisation and, like the best organisations, we are never happy with the status quo. We must always strive to be even better.
The other key address was delivered by former BBC broadcaster Sir Martyn Lewis, now chair of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, who congratulated US lay leaders on generating change within their communities through their voluntary work.
