Charedi teen found dead
A CHAREDI teenage girl has been found dead in an abandoned building in Manchester.
The 16-year-old girl was a pupil at Yavneh Girls at Manchester’s King David High School in Crumpsall, in the north of the city.
She has been named as Sarah Goldman.
She was found dead by a member of her family on Monday morning in a derelict building in Kersal, near her home in Prestwich.
According to the Manchester Evening News, she was last seen at about 5.30am on Monday, after telling her family she was going to school early to use the gym.
She was reported missing at approximately 9.30am and found roughly 20 minutes later.
King David High School said in a statement: “Sarah was a lovely, bright, intelligent and well-mannered pupil and she will be hugely missed by everyone at school.”
A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail but Greater Manchester Police later concluded the death was not suspicious and said the man would face no further action.
Superintendent Caroline Hemmingway said officers were “keeping an open mind and exploring all avenues”.
She added: “We are currently investigating the tragic death of a 16-year-old girl in Kersal, and it is our top priority to find out exactly how she died.
“The investigation is still in its early stages and a scene remains in place in the building near to Brookside Drive. We would like to hear from anyone who heard or saw anything unusual this morning around Brookside Drive to get in touch as soon as possible.
“We are trying to piece together this puzzle and help give the girl’s family the answers they deserve.”
Anyone with any information about the girl’s death is asked to contact police on 0161 856 8172 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
