A dozen schools warned
WARNING NOTICES were issued to 12 Charedi independent schools by the Department for Education in 2018.
They were among 139 warnings issued by the department to independent schools last year following inspections that identified “serious regulatory failings”.
Following a notice, schools must submit an action plan to the DfE on how it will make the required improvements.
Failure to change could lead to restrictions on admitting new pupils or, in the worst case, closure. ●Meanwhile, Ofsted this week said another Charedi school, the Beis Ruchel d’Satmar School for Girls, in Hackney, was still falling short of requirements. Although the school had made progress since being ranked inadequate three years ago, particularly in the teaching of English, inspectors noted after a follow-up visit that Beis Ruchel’s leadership still considered any reference to sexual orientation or gender reassignment a “red line” that would not be crossed.
