BAYERN MINCHA 1

MACCABI LONDON LIONS 3

● Max Kyte insists the Lions are fully focused on winning more silverware following their 3-1 victory over First Division Bayern. Sam Hamerton, Alex Taylor and Kyte set up a showdown against MGBSFL leaders Hendon United. Joint-manager Kyte says the Lions did exactly what was needed to get through to the next round. He said: “The boys put in a solid team performance. Bayern gave a good account of themselves and did not stop working throughout. They deserved their goal, scored by Adam Ellis, in the final 10 minutes. We are focused on bringing home as much silverware as possible and hopefully we can get another win this weekend against Los Camden to put ourselves into a second semi-finals.”

BRADY MACCABI 1

● Jordan Sapler insists the result was all that mattered as goals from Mordy Weiler, Rocky Spitzer and Gav Noe helped Hendon United reach the last four of the League Cup after recovering from a goal down to beat Brady Maccabi. Brady began the game brightly and took a deserved lead through Ben Kohler. Hendon then equalised via a hotly-disputed free-kick, with Weiler getting the final touch after the Brady goalkeeper was adjudged to have picked up a back-pass from a sliced clearance. Hendon forged ahead on 55 minutes through super-sub Rocky Spitzer and recent arrival Noe sealed the win. “This was not a classic by any means, but we made it through to the next round,”

said Hendon boss Sapler. “Brady were strong and well organised all across the pitch, but in the end we did enough to progress.” Brady boss Joel Nathan said: “We created enough chances to win, but found Hendon goalkeeper Russell Corin in top form. We now have only league games left and all the boys know each one must be treated like a cup final if we are to stay up.”

OAKWOOD A 1

JEWDINESE 0

● Dan Kristall believes Oakwood’s gamemanagement helped them edge into the next round following another hardfought win over First Division Jewdinese. Having beaten Jewdinese 2-1 in the Peter Morrison Trophy a fortnight ago, Kristall expected another tough game and he the Oakwood joint-manager was not wrong. It needed a superb 25-yard lob from Harvey Kaye to send Oakwood through. A fine break from Josh Cuby saw him release Toby Levy, whose cross found Kaye and his chip hit the crossbar and crossed the line, despite Jewdinese protests. Kristall reflected on “another well-fought contest which saw us play for 10 minutes with no keeper after Joe Botchin was sin-binned. We battled hard and just about deserved to win.” Jewdinese boss Darren Lawrence says his team can hold their heads high after giving Oakwood two scares. “Ultimately we couldn’t find the equaliser, but this was another great, well-fought, tiring and bruising performance against a top team. We have certainly shown what we’re about in our two games against Oakwood and are looking to take these performances into the league. Yet again I’m very proud of the performance from the boys. We suffered a couple of injuries to key players early on in the game which didn’t help us. We gave everything out on the pitch today, but just came up short. I’m confident of a strong finish to the league now and making a real push for promotion.” After the match, it was confirmed Jewdinese’s Jake Erlich ruptured his ACL and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Looking ahead to Oakwood’s next match, Kristall said: “We face lots of hard matches before our semi-final against Los Camden, starting with a very tough visit to the Hive in the Peter Morrison Trophy to face an in-form HMH. There is no doubt, that for this cup tie, we are the big underdogs, but I think we will thrive on that.”

MGBSFL PREMIER DIVISION

HMH 3

FAITHFOLD DOC MM A 1

● Avi Goldberg saluted midfield maestro Sam Monjack for an “inspirational performance” as HMH returned to the top three following a hard-fought win over Faithfold. Jake Doffman kept the scores level early on with a fine save denying Faithfold. It was all HMH from then on as they split the Faithfold defence open time and again. A quickfire double from striker Adam Abadi put daylight between the teams. David Leiwy pulled one back in the second half with a magical solo run, but Abadi completed his hat-trick to secure HMH’s fifth win. HMH boss Goldberg said: “This had the hallmarks of a tricky fixture, as Faithfold have pedigree and had beaten us before. But the boys went out with a purpose and didn’t look back after the first five minutes. We may have missed many chances, but with Oscar Wagner and Abadi in the team the goals seem to always come. Today was Abadi’s turn to bang them home. Hats off also to Sam Monjack. Is he reaching his peak in time for the huge match next Sunday against Oakwood in the Jewish FA cup? We hope so!” Faithfold playermanager Avi Markiewicz said: “It’s been an extremely tough second half of the season for us, but the core of the squad have kept going and not given up. I am really proud of those who gave their all for the team.”

DIVISION TWO

TEMPLE FORTUNE 4

MILL HILL DONS 2

● Losing manager Brandon Hamme praised Temple Fortune for producing the “finest performance” his Dons team have faced this season as the hosts registered a morale-boosting win. Missing several first-choice players, Fortune avenged last month’s 5-2 league defeat on the Dons in a scintillating display at Silver Jubilee Park. Goals from David Rajber (2), Gab Stone and Simon Cohen ensured Fortune became the first team to beat the Dons by more than two goals since last March. “Fortune were good value for their win,” said Hamme. “They played some really good stuff and for me it was the most impressive performance from an opposition in the league this season.” Nick Phillips and Adam Isaacs registered for the Dons. Fortune boss Simon Linden said: “It was a very impressive performance from us. We seem to step it up for the bigger games this season. Mill Hill Dons are a very good side, but we played with discipline, hard work and counter-attacking football. The scoreline could have been a lot bigger if we had taken our chances.” Attention now turns to the quarterfinals of the Peter Morrison Trophy for the Dons, who face First Division leaders Redbridge Jewish Care A on Sunday. Hamme said: “We’d had a great start to 2019 until this defeat and have been playing some really good stuff.

We will be working hard in training to make sure this was just a blip and there were several positives we can take forward.”
