Shabbat UK’s Championship striker

-

THIS WEEK’S Shabbat UK has a fan in QPR’s Israeli striker Tomer Hemed.

Speaking of his support for the event in an Evening Standard interview, he said that while football was his life, “first of all there is family and religion”.

He told the paper he donned tefillin daily and that when he played in Spain, it was hard to find a synagogue to pray in on Friday night.

Last year, he started one game for QPR on the subs’ bench because he was still fasting for Yom Kippur, coming on in the second half after taking a bite when the fast had gone out. Lyrebird.
