Jacobs: March will make or break Lions

-

FOOTBALL DAN Jacobs has challenged his Maccabi London Lions team to overcome injuries and availability issues if they are to win the Garston Vets League.

Hat-tricks from Saul Conway and Lee Cash helped the Lions return to winning ways as they destroyed Walthamstow 11-0.

Conway’s first-half treble laid the foundations, with Tony Gold adding the fourth. Super-sub Paul Hakim helped himself to two more, with further strikes from Max Radford and Mike Pearson adding the gloss. Cash added to his first-half strike with two more in the second period.

Lions could even afford to miss two penalties, with Alex Levack and Hadley Silver denied by the Walthamstow goalkeeper.

MLL boss Dan Jacobs said: “Tough tests await the Lions throughout March. With injuries and non-availability, how the group handle this will go a long way to determining if they’ll be in the shake-up for league and cup honours come the end of the season.”
