The strange attraction of a phantom charity
IT is remarkable that five per cent of British Jews say they donated to the European Jewish Support Foundation last year — because the charity does not exist.
Every year, World Jewish Relief conducts a poll to gauge its recognition among the Jewish public, including the EJSF with other organisations in order to compare the results.
Gratifyingly for WJR, more than 80 per cent of respondents said they were aware of it — considerably more than the 11 per cent who claimed to have heard of the fictional foundation.
