Lethal Lions in [ree"Óol

-

FOOTBALL MACCABI London Lions maintained their four-point lead at the top with a comfortable victory over Jamrock in the Garston Vets League.

With the wind at their backs in the first half, Lions started on the front foot. Having failed to convert a couple of early chances they took a deserved lead when Hadley Silver’s free-kick was prodded over the line by Saul Conway at the second attempt.

Lee Cash and Mike Pearson saw further first-half efforts rebound off the woodwork as the Lions failed to make the most of the conditions.

The second period started with Jamrock looking to push Lions back, but Guy Morris, Adam Harvey, Rob Glass and James Abrams were dominant in defence. The latter made a superb goal-saving block, from which the Lions broke away to score a second goal, the ball finding its way to Cash who lashed the ball into the roof of the net from 15 yards.

Jamrock continued to threaten but Adam Harvey, Alex Levack and Craig Pearl worked tirelessly to deny them time and space in midfield.

The Lions were ruthless in the final third of the pitch and Pearson made it 3-0, his thunderbolt crashing into the net via the underside of the bar.

Further strikes from Pearson and Conway secured the points before Jamrock claimed a last-minute consolation goal.
