GREATER MANCHESTER’S new High Sheriff is Mark Adlestone, the former chair of the city’s main Jewish welfare charity, The Fed.
Mr Adlestone devotes a minimum of a day a week to his charity and communal work and a feature of his new duties will be to promote the voluntary sector, encouraging the development of charities.
“This is such an exciting opportunity for me,” he said. “I look forward to supporting the people of the county and making further contributions to the community.” Mr Adlestone is also a trustee of the Jewish Leadership Council, whose chair, Jonathan Goldstein, praised him as a tireless worker for Manchester Jewry. “His contribution to the voluntary sector is rightfully recognised.”
