Chaplain’s senior role

RABBI ALEX Goldberg has been appointed senior chaplain at Surrey University, which has 18,000 students and staff.

He will be responsibl­e for its new Roundhouse Centre for Faith and Reflection, incorporat­ing a Jewish common room, a Christian oratory, a peace room for Buddhist and Hindu prayer and meditation and a peace garden. Muslim prayer facilities were recently renovated.

Rabbi Goldberg — who has 16 years’ experience in chaplaincy — said it was a privilege “to be serving in a community that I know and love. I am grateful for the warm words of support I have had from the university, other chaplains and the local faith communitie­s.”
