Chaplain’s senior role
RABBI ALEX Goldberg has been appointed senior chaplain at Surrey University, which has 18,000 students and staff.
He will be responsible for its new Roundhouse Centre for Faith and Reflection, incorporating a Jewish common room, a Christian oratory, a peace room for Buddhist and Hindu prayer and meditation and a peace garden. Muslim prayer facilities were recently renovated.
Rabbi Goldberg — who has 16 years’ experience in chaplaincy — said it was a privilege “to be serving in a community that I know and love. I am grateful for the warm words of support I have had from the university, other chaplains and the local faith communities.”
