Action stations for Archway residents
WITH HIGHGATE Village above and Tufnell Park down the road, Archway has seen recent investment to transform its public spaces, with many new cafés, restaurants, and shops.
The area is served by the tube, the A1 and an abundance of bus routes — and has recently enjoyed £12.6 million of TFL investment to help things flow even more smoothly. The gyratory outside the station has been replaced by a pedestrianised space, which has integrated cycle lanes, hosts regular local events and is overlooked by the revamped Archway Tavern, a historic pub.
The tube station and the nearby shopfronts have also had a facelift and, thanks to a £2 million council grant, many of the longstanding independent businesses along the high street have also been treated to impressive renovations.
The Hill House project is redefining an important part of Archway around the station.
Next to the station itself (Northern Line, zone two), the scheme is designed and built by Bode and Hawkins Brown Architects. There are two residential buildings, The Tower and The Podium, each with a distinctive feel.
The apartments in The Tower feature floor-to-ceiling windows which maximise the views over Highgate Hill and London. They have timber flooring, high-spec bathrooms and contemporary German kitchens.
The Podium provides studio and one-bedroom apartments with bespoke joinery, high-quality finishes and German kitchens with integrated appliances. Each Podium apartment has a balcony or a terrace, accessed through full-height sliding doors.
Both residential blocks have communal areas, including a landscaped private rooftop terrace, as well as a 24-hour concierge, video entry and fob access, secure bicycle storage, energyefficient lighting and individual sprinkler and fire-detection systems for each apartment, with on-site monitoring and management.
As well as places to live, the developer is creating new retail space and a refurbished town square, which forms the Hill House entrance. Once the building is complete, the mall on which it sits will also be overhauled.
Residents of this tight-knit community will also have convenient access to a number of green spaces, including Hampstead Heath and the 26 acres of Waterlow Park, which is less than 15 minutes from the development.
Prices start at £975,000. Agent is Hamptons International.
JTRADE — the Jewish trade expo — is coming to Excel, London on July 8. It connects people in the construction/property market with potential employees, customers and investors. The pre-expo event has now been held, introducing exhibitors to the expo and explaining how to prepare for and maximise results from the event.
Over lavish provisions by M&M Caterers, including cocktails, salt beef and sushi, exhibitors forged valuable relationships.
The programme was opened by Ari Feferkorn, founder of JTrade. With his energy and spirit, he set the tone for an evening of planning, ambition and goal setting.
Business coach Ben Kench lectured throughout the event on key topics such as marketing, setting objectives and attracting visitors. Also present were printing companies, marketing agencies and media outlets.
The room was buzzing with excitement and a sense of purpose, felt by the organisers and exhibitors alike. The consensus was clear — an opportunity like JTrade is not one to be squandered.
