LABOUR CANDIDATE IS EX-MEND
A Labour Euro election candidate for the West Midlands is an open supporter of the Boycott, Sanctions and Divestment campaign against Israel who has worked as Parliamentary Officer for the controversial Muslim advocacy group Mend.
Zarah Sultana, one of seven Labour candidates on the region’s list for Thursday’s election, announced in her election manifesto she was standing for the “one party offering the solutions to issues that were perhaps the reasons people voted for Brexit in the first place.”
The JC can reveal Ms Sultana has long history of campaigning against Israel in her role as NUS Black Students’ Campaign committee member, where she defended Malia Bouattia, the former student leader accused of antisemitism.
Ms Sultana was confirmed as having helped with Mend’s submission for the proposed working definition of Islamophobia.
Last weekend she supported online messages from proPalestine campaigners who criticised other activists for watching the Eurovision Song Contest on TV.
