Opener Mayer in the runs
CRICKET Elliott Mayer fell one run short of a century in Belmont & Edgware’s five-wicket defeat against Totteridge Millhillians.
Steven Altmann-Richer and Mayer put on 43 in eight overs for the first wicket. Mayer was then joined by skipper Adam Jacobs who hit 35 in 49 balls.
Scott Gerard and Mayer took apart the Totteridge bowling attack, with Gerard smashing four sixes in an unbeaten
51. The innings finished with Mayer one run shy of what would have been his fourth century for BECC. Totteridge’s reply got off to a disastrous start following two wickets in two balls at the start of the innings from Jonny Eintracht. Simon Durban helped rebuild with a solid half-century and although David Kaplan, Bension Tilley and Eintracht removed the middleorder, Totteridge maintained a runrate of 7.5 an over during the second half of the innings to win with nine balls to spare.
