Well merited
One of Theresa May’s final acts as PM was to appoint John Mann as the government’s adviser on antisemitism. The appointment is self-evidently sensible; Mr Mann has been little short of heroic in his fight against antisemitism, both inside and outside Labour. In similar vein, Ian Austin’s role as trade envoy to Israel is also well-merited. Mr Austin has been equally admirable in standing up for his principles and against bigotry, at great personal cost.
