Turning positive
Six months ago Islamist suicide bombers murdered 259 people in Sri Lanka. Among those killed were 15-year-old Amelie Linsey and her 19-year-old brother Daniel. Their brother, David, was at home in Britain, his life shattered and changed for ever. But with remarkable bravery and determination, David has refused to let their murder define either himself or the memory of his brother and sister. As he puts it: “I now have a new focus: not on death but on life. I really feel driven to unite everyone in our pain and move forward — to channel our pain into a productive mission.” To date he has raised £114,000 pounds for the charity he has set up, the Amelie and Daniel Linsey Foundation to provide housing and education for families and children left without a family income, and to supply medical equipment for hospitals in Colombo. Mr Linsey’s attitude to dealing with his grief is inspirational.
