Roving Reporters dazzled by Lenchner master class
SOUTH AMATEUR VETS LEAGUE
MLFC 9 ROVING REPORTERS 2
► FOOTBALL PAUL Lenchner scored a hat-trick as MLFC came from two goals down to destroy Roving Reporters.
Roving Reporters, a club formed by legendary BBC commentator John Motson, forced MLFC on to the back foot with two early goals at Rowley Lane.
The introduction of Gideon Gold and Adam Klein gave MLFC renewed energy and a reshuffle across the pitch had an almost instant impact. Stefan Benfredj and Danny Daggers combined to create an opening for Lenchner who calmly halved the deficit from eight yards.
MLFC drew level two minutes later when Brad Lazarus produced a precision finish from distance and then Lloyd Nygate rose powerfully to meet a corner from Max Radford with his head to put the hosts in front. Daggers added a longrange effort before Lenchner grabbed his second, finishing off a fine flowing move by flicking the ball in from a tight angle to make it 5-2 at half-time.
Rob Soutar and Klein struck in quick succession early in the second half. Gold deservedly got his name on the scoresheet with Lions’ eighth goal of the day, after the goalkeeper parried a shot from Lenchner into his path for the simplest of tap-ins.
The final word went to Lenchner who completed the scoring to give MLFC confidence in their first season in this new league.
