Hakim is the Lions king

FOOTBALL PAUL Hakim scored four times as MLFC enjoyed a crushing win over Sporting London.

In the end Sporting were no match for MLFC, the hosts reaching double figures in this comfortable league victory against the Garston Vets bottom side.

On top from kick-off, it was only a surprise that it took until the quarter-hour mark to open the scoring. A surging run from Josh Bentley saw him find Hakim who passed inside for hattrick hero Daniel Stanton to slot home.

Danny Berg then won the ball for Stanton, who played an incisive pass inside the full-back for Max Radford, whose first-time cross was bundled home by Hakim.

Hakim made it 3-0 from a free-kick minutes later before he completed his hat-trick in some style. Controlling Levack’s long pass on his chest, he acrobatically volleyed the dropping ball home from the edge of the box.

The Hakim show continued barely four minutes into the second period, his fourth and Maccabi’s fifth as he capitalised on a poor clearance from the keeper to finish uchallenged. His race though was soon run, his over-worked hamstring seeing him leave the field.

But there was no let-up. Excellent work from James Abrams saw him dink the ball through to Steve Summers who lashed the ball home before a typical lung-busting run from Rayner saw a fine cross met by the head of Bentley for goal number eight.

A superb team goal gave the side their ninth, with Adam Harvey striding forward and finding Abrams. He played a one-two with Bentley before playing in Stanton who, with a shoulder drop here and swerve there, put two defenders on their backsides before rolling home his third of the game.

And it was double figures with virtually the last kick of the game as Radford was afforded time and space to crash a left-footed effort into the roof of the net.
