… so try Dubai? Kosher kitchen opens in UAE in wake of Israel deal

- BY ALEKS PHILLIPS

A BRITISH caterer will help establish a kosher kitchen in Dubai, UAE, to serve the local hospitality industry following the normalisation of political ties between the Gulf state and Israel.

1070 Kitchen, based in London, signed an agreement with hospitality provider Blue Horizon to establish a kitchen that will supply hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions.

The joint venture comes in anticipation of Jewish tourists travelling to the UAE following the deal signed with Israel earlier this month.

The new kitchen will be established under the guidance of 1070’s head chef

Oren Goldfeld, who himself hails from Israel and started out working in the UK under Yotam Ottolenghi.

1070 already supplies kosher food to many London hotels, including the Ritz and the Savoy, as well as several airlines, including El-Al’s lounge at Heathrow Airport.

The news comes just a day after it was announced that UAE’s first kosher restaurant had opened in the world’s tallest building.

Armani/Kaf sits on the ground floor of the Burj Khalifa as part of the Armani Hotel and will provide room service and a delivery offering throughout Dubai.

According to local reports, the restaurant’s menu aims to celebrate the best of kosher cuisine while also paying homage to flavours from around the world. Guests can expect challah, as well as dishes such as braised beef brisket and pan-fried sea bass.

It will be certified as kosher under the supervision of Rabbi Levi Duchman, UAE’s Chabad rabbi.
