We’ve never seen forced

-

Regarding your report on forced marriages (Wedlocked? Debate erupts over whether we have a problem over forced marriage, 12 February), based on our experience, including counselling with members of the Chassidic community, most couples enter into an Arranged Introduction and not an arranged marriage, as defined by members of Nahamu.

This is done with consent from both parties which is a requirement under Jewish law. Whilst there may be instances whereby one might feel coerced, we have not come across any party feeling as if they have been forced to marry. The Jewish Marriage Council Hendon NW4
