Schools geared up for a digital Purim

IT WILL be Purim with a difference this year but schools are determined to pack in as much festive fun as they can digitally.

North Cheshire Jewish Primary School is laying on an online magic show for younger pupils, a magic tutorial, a Mr Magic Bubble Man show and a hamantsaschen-baking class.

Teams of Yavneh College pupils will be competing for a prize of £200 of Amazon gift vouchers, in an escape

room challenge, solving puzzles to see who is first to reach the college’s virtual Purim masquerade ball.

Chocolate or pizza making, Zumba and break dancing are among activities lined up at Immanuel College, as well as the launch of a Bushey to Jerusalem “walk” where the school aims to cover the distance as a whole with each student logging their own mileage.

Since door-to-door shpieling is out of the question this year, Hasmonean High Schools are encouraging students to use their ingenuity to raise money for charity in other ways, giving each student a fundraising page as part of its Unite campaign.
