The wait is finally over — Shtisel is back

- BY MATHILDE FROT

FANS rejoice: the beloved Israeli drama’s third season is finally coming to Netflix in the UK later this month.

The latest series, which was shot entirely during the lockdown in Israel, first aired in Israel and will now launch on the streaming platform around the world on 25 March, its producer, YES Studios, said on Tuesday.

“This season was made possible thanks to the love and support we received from fans and viewers throughout the world,” producer Dikla Barkai said.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring the Shtisel family to the warm embrace of global audiences in time for Passover.”

World War Z star Daniella Kertesz and Fauda actress Reef Neeman joined the cast of the nine-episode season, which is set four years after the events of season two. Cast-member Michael Aloni took to Instagram last month after the series completed its initial run in Israel.

“Shtisel again after five long years, in the middle of a world pandemic, against all odds reached the end of its third season,” he wrote, thanking the show’s viewers, cast, crew and writers.

Shtisel is a perhaps unlikely global hit, but is one of the many Israeli dramas to succeed internationally.
