Was it a Purim Spiel?
Hats off to the Jewish Chronicle and the chutzpah of putting a Purim Spiel on the front page.
Who had the imagination and wit to put a spoof message (for public display in all good newsagents) from the UAE — which of course has no track record of human rights abuses such as torture, arbitrary arrest and detention?
I will look closely through the JC’s pages to see if I can find the missing UAE princess.
In the UK we just settle for ‘spot the ball’.
Professor Tony Kushner Parkes Institute University of Southampton
JC Editor Stephen Pollard, rightly describes the Abraham Accords (History is made as new friends celebrate Purim, 26 Feb) as, “one of the most momentous, uplifting and hopeful events of the 21st century”.
In doing so, he consciously or unconsciously, omitted to mention the architects of these Accords, ex-President Donald Trump and his sonin-law Jared Kushner.
The JC should not have airbrushed Trump and Kushner out of this story. Rather it should be campaigning for them both to be awarded the Nobel Peace prize.

Isn’t it amazing to consider that, last Purim, your front page last week would have passed for a Purim Spiel!
