AN EDGWARE resident has honoured his wife’s memory by raising more than £60,000 for equipment for underprivi­leged pupils.

Stephen Brown’s wife Samantha died recently after a long battle with cancer. A passionate educator, she was a nursery teacher at the local Nagila pre-school and read with the children to help them improve their literacy levels.

Aware that many students did not have the necessary equipment to learn during lockdown, Mr Brown — a consultant to estate agents across the UK — sent messages to around three dozen of them asking for support.

To date, the Edgware and Hendon Reform member has sent out 535 laptops and tablets and 12 Wi-fi dongles to schools across the UK.
