Chaplains box clever to give students a special Seder
FOR THE first time, University Jewish Chaplaincy offered students a Seder in a Box, enabling them to celebrate with others in their bubble.
The box included a three course meal, grape juice, matzah and a Haggadah. There was also a guide to the Seder to enhance appreciation of the celebration.
Boxes were delivered to locations throughout the country, Exeter, Bath, St Andrews and Lancaster among them.
“Normally we would host students in our houses for the Sedarim but this year it was unfortunately not possible,” said Shevi Grunewald, the chaplain for universities in Leeds, Yorkshire and Nottingham.
“It is still crucial that students have the opportunity to hold their own Seder and we were more than happy to facilitate this.
“Part of the fundamental essence of Pesach is the idea of hosting and this model allowed us to quasi-host many students — and in turn they got to host their own friends.”
