V FOLLOWING THE lifting of various national restrictions, Jewish sport can finally make a welcome return – on the football pitch this weekend and in today’s JC.

Looking forward to the return of both, Maccabi GB’s Chief Executive Ashley Lerner said: “Everyone’s been eagerly awaiting the resumption of grass-roots sport and with it just around the corner, there couldn’t have

been a better time to launch our new sports section in the JC, which will see Jewish sport covered every week on its back page. “Whilst everyone’s looking forward to the restart of the Maccabi GB football this weekend — the MGBSFL, Masters League, Junior Football League, and Manchester Jewish Soccer League — and reading about it once again in the JC, Jewish sport is of course more than just football and we at MGB can’t

wait to once again host our Primary and Secondary school tournaments and various community sports events, and are keenly awaiting the start of the cricket season, all of which will be covered in these pages.

“Furthermore, the countdown to next summer’s Maccabiah Games in Israel will really begin to gather pace in the coming months, with trial dates for a wide variety of sports to be

announced in due course – so watch this space!

“We want to feature as many sports and athletes as possible, to showcase the sporting achievements of our community — both young and old — and therefore want you to share your stories with us.
