Two generations team up for triple run challenge

- BY RICHARD SAUNDERS

Together with my children, Scarlett, aged 11 and Leo, aged eight, I am so excited to be back in person and participating at the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run on Sunday.

Last year, it was a real shame that due to the pandemic the event could not happen in its usual format, but I still took part virtually, completing 10km while raising money for JLGB and Jewish Care.

This year I have decided to challenge myself even further and will be completing the Tri Run, which is all three distances — the 10km, 5km — and finishing off being joined by my children, all completing the 1km together.

To be able to complete the 1km with my children by my side will be a wonderful moment.

Scarlett and Leo are all ready and excited for the 1km but for them they are really looking forward to a day of fun-filled activities, while seeing friends and all the family who will be coming down on the day to cheer us all on. Scarlett and Leo say: “We can’t wait for Sunday and to cheer Daddy on in the 10km and the 5km and then complete the 1km with him.

“We have our Maccabi GB Community Fun Run T-Shirts all ready to wear and look forward to receiving our medals when we cross the finish line. We are also so excited for all the fun filled activities throughout the day for us to enjoy!”

The Maccabi GB Community Fun Run really is a special day in the community calendar, and to see so many people from within the community come back together is really going to be something special.

I am really looking forward to a family day out on Sunday and just hope Scarlett and Leo can wait until after the 1km for their ice cream! Scarlett and Leo and I are looking forward to seeing you all on the day.
