Fun family day out for Jewish Care fundraisers

- BY JC REPORTER

“AFTER A year spent running alone, it’s great that the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run is back,” says Amy Woolf, who will be running again this year with Matthew and their children, Georgia and Josh.

“It’s such a fun, family-friendly event and we’re all really looking forward to taking part again with the Jewish Care Families team, who will be there on the day. Join us and raise money whilst having a brilliant family day out.”

Iris Orenstein, who is running with her husband Jeffrey and daughters Elise, Leanne and Marla, couldn’t agree more. Iris is a social worker with Jewish Care’s Shalvata therapeutic service whose job is to support Holocaust survivors who are members of Jewish Care’s Holocaust Survivors’ Centre.

“We decided to run for Jewish Care as it serves such an important need in our community, enhancing people’s lives,” says Iris. “When we see all the Jewish stands that are present on the day we recognise what a caring Jewish community we are lucky to live in. Our girls enjoy the community atmosphere and the many activities the organisers arrange during the day. They also love the opportunity to escape from mum and dad on the day.”

Now that we can take part in real events again, Jewish Care’s runners are raring to go. We hope you will come and visit the Jewish Care stand where you can take part in fun activities, including sending personalised Rosh Hashanah cards to residents in our care homes.

Jewish Care’s chief executive, Daniel Carmel-Brown, says, “We’d like to thank all of the runners for taking part

and supporting Jewish Care in the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run. The funds raised will go towards vital services to help us to support older people in the community who have never needed us more. Whatever you do, be it 1K, 2K, 5K, 10K, we wish all of the runners the best luck and a fantastic day out.”
