Maccabi Masters kicks off season

-

THE FIRST weekend of matches in the Maccabi Masters Football League saw victories for Maccabi London Lions, Maccabi London Brady and Temple Fortune.

Danny Schindler, Jonny Caplan, Jon Steinberg and Bradley Lazarus scored first half goals for Lions as they beat Hendon 4-1 win, with David Boyne grabbing Hendon’s consolation after the interval.

David Rose, James Pinkus and

Richard Sacks netted for Brady in their 3-0 win over Glenthorne, but the surprise result of the day came as Alex Gubbay scored from a tight angle early in the first half to give Temple Fortune a 1-0 win over EHRS.

Reigning Manchester Jewish Soccer League champions Haroldeans began the defence of their title with a 7-2 win over Broughton Park Rangers. Rangers were only one of two teams to take any points off Haroldeans last season,

though proved to be no match on Sunday as they conceded seven goals for the second successive game.

The Merseysiders started well and found themselves 3-0 up the break. Rangers replied just after half time, before two more Haroldeans strikes made the game safe at 5-1. Rangers responded again, before two further strikes rounded off the scoring. Eden Harris, Adam Shiffman and Sam Kersh scored two each, with

Josh Roberts also on target.

In other news, Maccabi Manchester 3rd matches have been temporarily put on hold as they hopefully get their squad together by the end of the month. Leeds Maccabi and Jewventus start their 2021-22 campaigns this weekend.

The Maccabi GB Junior Football League enjoyed its second round of fixtures as the U7, U8, U9 and U10’s all enjoyed their latest games.
