Chigwell kick off with a win

CLUB DE Chigwell and North London Raiders got their Maccabi Southern Football League Premier Division campaigns underway on Sunday morning, with the Essex men claiming a 3-1 win.

Jacob Bennett, Daniel Bowman and Joe Klein scored in the win, with manager Joshua Dobias saying: “It was a superb performanc­e from start to finish. We were solid defensivel­y and excellent with our finishing.”

Hendon United Sports Club ensured Oakwood began the defence of their title with a defeat as Josh Harris, Yoav Kestenbaum, Avi Korman and Yehuda Korman all scored in their 4-2 win. Manager David Garbacz said: “What a great advert for our league, a tremendous full-blooded game between two top teams. We put in one of our best performanc­es of recent years,deserved the win and showed we mean business this season.”

London Bears also made it two wins from two thanks to a 5-1 win over Maccabi London FC. Zacki Doumou scored twice, with Dan Creese, Joe Bellman and Sam Shackleton also on target.

HMH returned to winning ways as two goals from Ethan Krell, coupled with strikes from Adam Abadi and George Goldberg saw then beat Faithfold White 4-1.

FC East London Bees top the Division One table after two goals from Adam Goldman and Jason Goldstein’s strike which saw them to a 3-0 win over NWL Azzuri. Manager James Lewis said: “We’re absolutely delighted to bring home another three points with another clean sheet against last season’s table-topping side. We outplayed them from start to finish.”

Borussia Jewdinese join them on six points after they beat Straw Hat Pirates 5-3, Zack Collins helping himself to a hat-trick, with Joe Woolf and Reiss Mogilner also on target.

Two goals from Alon Hershkorn earned Temple Fortune A a 2-1 win over Redbridge Jewish Care Purple, whilst a lastminute wonder strike from Jono Gaon saw Hampstead Ducks beat Mill Hill dons 2-1, Daniel Glantz netting their other.

London Athletico top the Division Two table on goal difference following their thumping 5-0 win over Qarabagel. Jake Brassey and Max Joseph scored two each, with Ben Good also on target.

Geez Park Rangers made it two wins from two as Mikey Perkins’ hattrick saw them beat Oakwood B 3-2. Manager Ben Leslie said: “It was a real team performanc­e, we dug deep and showed great character to pick up the three points.”

Real Madreidel join both side on six points as they edged a nine-goal epic, coming back from 3-0 down to beat Camden City 5-4. Joey Gold scored a hat-trick, with Joel Walters and Jake Salem also on target. Chairman Joseph Jayson said: “We didn’t let our heads drop at half-time, dug deep and got the three points we deserved through a last minute winner.”

Brady FC began their season with a 2-0 win over Millbrook Park Calcio, thanks to two Jack Brand goals, while Boca Chillers and Redbridge Jewish Care White shared the points in a 1-1 draw, Jack Davis and Lewis Jacobs scoring for their respective sides.

Hapoel Hampstead bounced back from their opening day 7-1 loss – by beating Temple Fortune B by the same scoreline. Matti Brooks and Jordan Conn both grabbed two each, with Gidi Ezra, Thomas Walsh and Sam Prais completing the scoring. Club chairman Jake Russell said: “After last week’s defeat the team felt determined to avenge that scoreline and lay down a marker to the rest of the division. Our season starts here and hopefully this result is one of many to come.”
