Plucky Ducks hand Salmon the top spot

BORUSSIA JEWDINESE FELL to their first defeat of the season and relinquish­ed top spot in Division One of the Maccabi GB Southern Football League, crashing 4-1 to Hampstead Ducks.

Joe Metliss, Ariel Rahamim, Jonathan Byre and Anthony Meir scored for the Ducks, with Ducks’ coach Avi Goldberg saying: “This was a big demonstrat­ion to the league of what to expect for the rest of the season.”

The result saw Stoke Salmon open up a three-point lead at the top of the table, James Barnett’s strike and Jack Christie’s header seeing them to a 2-1 win over Brook Farm Rovers.

NWL Azzuri claimed their first win of the season with a thrilling 5-3 victory at Temple Fortune A. Danny Miraccio, Samuel Morris, Josh Feldman, Sammy Bradley and Ben Rosen all finding the back of the net.

Scrabble earned their first win — and points — of the season, edging past FC East London Bees in a sevengoal thriller, 4-3. Jonny Blain scored twice, with Jeff Gotch and Zack Miller also on target.

Hendon United moved three points clear at the top of the Premier Division table as they won the clash of the toptwo, beating London Bears 4-2. Moses Seitler, Gav Lewis, Rocky Spitzer and an own goal securing an impressive win.

Maccabi London FC claimed their first win of the season — Joe Cohen’s 90th-minute winner seeing them to a 1-0 victory over Club de Chigwell. Oakwood also secured their first triumph – and points – of the season, as they won 5-0 at Faithfold White thanks to goals from Charlie Kasler, Samuel Sutton, Louie Fisher, Ollie Craig and Josh Cuby.

A hat-trick from Mikey Perkins kept Geez Park Rangers’ 100 per cent winning start intact as they came away from Qarabagel with a 4-2 win. Jordan Grundman scored their fourth, with manager Ben Leslie saying: “Top effort from the boys. It wasn’t to the same standards as last week, but an important win nonetheles­s.”

Real Madreidel made it four wins from four with a 3-2 win at Redbridge Jewish Care White. Jake Salem scored twice, with Joey Gold also on target. Assistant manager Sam Bookman said: “It was a great day at the office and a hard-fought win.”

London Athletico stay in third spot following a 6-3 win at Brady FC — despite playing with ten men for 70 minutes. Moshe Shamash and Jamie Kent scored two each, with George Saffer and Aidan Raphael also finding the back of the net. Manager Adam Nahum said: “It’s great to get back to winning ways in a game that was made harder than it had to be, but we’ll build on the win and keep moving forward.”

Goals from Jordan Aspis and Dean Cramer gave Millbrook Park Calcio a 2-1 win over Hapoel Hamsptead. Manager Dominic Levene said: “It was a gritty win. The second half saw us dig in and we managed to see out the game.” Adam Woolfstein and Simon Davies scored in Oakwood Town’s 2-0 win at Boca Chillers.

Maccabi London Lions moved two points clear at the top of the Maccabi Masters Football League table, Bradley Lazarus’ hat-trick plus Michael Abraham’s strike seeing them to a 4-0 win at Marshside. Temple Fortune are two points behind them after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Glenthorne, Dean Ingram and Marc Linch scoring for their respective sides.

EHRS Stonegrove moved into jointthird place as Stefan Simons’ brace saw them defeat Hendon Harriers 2-1. Ben Simons scored for Hendon.

The one game in the Manchester Jewish Soccer League saw Haroldeans crush Jewventus 7-0. Adam Shiffman helped himself to a hat-trick, with Max Barnett, Marcus Nezri, Jack Bookey and Eden Harris goals completing the rout. Elsewhere, Reich FC are through to the second round of the Manchester County Football Associatio­n Cup as goals from Avi Libbert, Jake Hadden and Binny Silverman saw them win 3-1 at Tameside Albion.

Two new teams — from HMH and Hendon United — have joined the Maccabi GB Junior Football League. Nearly a quarter of the way through their season, Sunday’s action saw teams from all four age groups compete in 13 matches.
