Station transformation
FINCHLEY METROPOLITAN Police Station, in Ballards Lane, was famous for investigating high-profile cases during the Victorian and Edwardian eras — cases such as the infamous Black-Hand Gang in Victorian times and the Tube train murders of 1939.
Now, though, it has been transformed by Aitch Group into Park Place — a luxury apartment building on three storeys, with floor-to-ceiling windows, covered balconies and a brick façade, recalling the brick exterior of the police station.
The apartments are ready for moving in — and there are six show apartments that can be visited in person. With so many buyers having to view apartments virtually during the lockdown as a result of restrictions, Aitch Group wanted buyers to have the option to experience the properties in real life.
The show apartments are designed to particularly appeal to young professionals and creatives and include a variety of apartment styles, across several floors and with different layouts and views.
Park Place features 41 apartments — studios and one- and two-bedrooms — with retail space, opposite Victoria Park, so it is well situated for Jewish schools, synagogues and sources of kosher food, as well as for general shopping and transport links into central London.
Apartments measure from 410 sq ft
A few footsteps from greenery but within easy reach of city life’
for a studio up to 924 sq ft for a twobedroom. The reception rooms are large enough to entertain, but still feel cosy and inviting.
Natural materials and modern finishes are used throughout the apartments, with neutral colour palettes on the walls, floors and kitchen furnishings to bounce natural light around the interiors, while the full-height glazing makes the most of the views over the park.
Each show apartment is dressed using a slightly different colour scheme for the soft furnishings, ranging from monochromatic, art deco and Scandi décor, to bright pops of colour.
The Nobilia kitchens include Bosch fitted appliances, while other design features of the apartments include timber flooring in hallways, living rooms and kitchens, contemporary
black switches and sockets and fitted wardrobes in master bedrooms.
The building has a lift to all floors and a reception area with secure post boxes for each apartment, plus bike storage and parking spaces available.
Directly across the road, Victoria Park is a large green space with a café, gardens, a playground and sporting facilities.
Local businesses include the Two Brothers fish restaurant and Natural Health, a family-run health store, the family run A-Z Grocers and gyms such as Park View Health Club.
West Finchley and Finchley Central tube stations are each a ten-minute walk away. Trains into central London from these stations take just under half an hour and Heathrow Airport is a 40-minute drive away.
Chelsea Reynolds, director at Aitch Group, says: “We are pleased to further expand our offering of exceptional and affordable homes in London with Park Place in Finchley and believe that the array of show apartments in the development will enable buyers to easily envisage themselves living in the scheme.
“The location of these apartments, adjacent to a vast, leafy, open space whilst also surrounded by all that the Finchley community has to offer, is a rare find in London.
“Park Place offers buyers a parkside home, just a few footsteps from greenery but within easy reach of bustling city life.
“As the development is completed now with the show apartments furnished, we are delighted to be able to offer them ready for move-ins.”
Prices start at £350,000 unfurnished and there also is the opportunity to purchase the furniture.
Whether purchased unfurnished or furnished, Park Place offers a great canvas for buyers to make their new home their own.
