Camden’s City slickers move on up with a 2-1 win

CAMDEN CITY moved into the top half of the Maccabi GB Southern Football League Division Two table with a 2-1 win over Millbrook Park Calcio.

Elsewhere in the division, Boca Chillers won a nine-goal thriller to move to within five points of the top two in the table. A 90th-minute winner from Jordan Freedman saw them come away from Brady FC with a 5-4 victory. Jack David and James Belchak both scored twice earlier in the game.

The hosts replied with a double from Noah Raphael along with goals from Aaron Diamond and Harry Childs.

Real Madreidel, who have played two games fewer, are now two points behind them in the table, following their 6-1 win over Redbridge Jewish Care White.

Joel Walters bagged a hat-trick and Sam Keene scored twice.

HMH closed the gap at the top of the Premier Division table to five points thanks to a crushing 11-1 win over London Bears.

Oscar Wagner hit four, Adam Abadi and Alex Moss chipped in with two each, while Thomas Prais, Dom Feldman and Saul Norton completed the rout. Manager Avi Goldberg said: “It was an outstandin­g performanc­e.”

Borussia Jewdinese moved to within four points of the leaders in Division One after they claimed an emphatic 8-0 win at Temple Fortune A.

Mitchell Gerber and Charlie Cohen scored two each, with Zac Brin, Michael Kenley, Ollie Lewin and Ollie Shields also getting on the scoresheet.

A 65th-minute winner from Isaac Virchis saw Mill Hill Dons maintain their promotion charge as they came away from Brook Farm Rovers with a 3-2 win, Scott Hircombe and an own goal seeing them to the three points. Dan Cohen and Joe Gourgey hit back for Rovers, for whom player-manager Cohen said: “It was a very tight game that just swung their way.

“The boys put a massive shift in with only 11 players available and deserved a point at the very least. We had the chances to equalise in the second half but couldn’t take them.”

NWL Azzurri kept alive their own promotion hopes with a comprehens­ive 5-0 win over Straw Hat Pirates.

Sam Morris and Aron Gale scored two each, with Josh Saffer adding their fifth. Saffer said: “It wasn’t our best performanc­e but we got the job done.”

Oakwood booked their place in the semi-finals of the Cyril Anekstein Cup as a hat-trick from Josh Cuby helped them on their way to a 7-0 win over London Athletico. Charlie Kasler, Dan Aluf,

Max Lever and Maxim Green also found the net to see the Premier Division side ease past their Division Two opponents.

In the Maccabi Masters Football League, newly crowned champions Maccabi London Lions celebrated their title with a 6-1 win over St John’s Wood Tigers. Bradley Lazarus scored four of their goals with Mark Kingston and Darren Dryer also on target.

Maccabi London Brady strengthen­ed their grip on the runners-up spot courtesy of a 5-2 win over EHRS. Scott Ansher helped himself to a brace, with Kevin Lotzof, David Rose and Paul Shamplina also scoring. Elsewhere, two first-half goals from Leon Wise along with Graham Meyer’s strike earned Temple Fortune a 3-1 win over Marshside.

Haroldeans increased their lead at the top of the Manchester Jewish Soccer League table to six points with a 3-2 win over bottom side Manchester Maccabi 3rd, though they have played a game more than secondplac­ed Reich. Man-of-the-match Adam Shiffman’s hat-trick sealed the win. The latter forfeited their place in the Shonn Trophy as they were unable to field a team against Leeds Maccabi in their first round tie.

The Maccabi GB Junior Football League enjoyed another full week of league action across its four age groups. League vice-chairman Jordan Sapler said: “It’s so encouragin­g to see not only the standard of football but the continued enjoyment from all the players increase week on week.

“The cup competitio­ns will be providing a change of pace to the league campaigns and they will be exciting to watch and take part in.”
