A Netflix date for Jewish matchmakers

NEW NETFLIX show is promising to bring a Jewish tradition into the 21st century by getting singletons in the US and Israel to hand their love lives over to a matchmaker.

Jewish Matchmaking, which is currently in production, promises to build on the success of Netflix hit Indian Matchmaking which debuted in 2020.

According to the streaming giant, ther new show will feature “singles in the US and Israel as they turn their dating life over to a top Jewish matchmaker”.

It says the show will ask: “Will using the traditional practice of shidduch help them find their soulmate in today’s world?”

Indian Matchmaking was a surprise hit for Netflix, winning an Emmy in 2021 amid claims it featured class snobbery in the reactions of daters on the show.

Netflix has produced multiple series on the orthodox Jewish community, including Unorthodox and One of Us, a critically acclaimed documentary on those who leave the strictly Orthodox community in Williamsburg, New York.
