A glimpse into Lazos Mitzvah Day 2022
LAST YEAR brought another amazing opportunity for Lazos Mitzvah Day to generate widespread impact all over Latin America. The solidarity of thousands of people from Hispanic countries coming together to do good and make a difference continues to inspire many to do more for those who need it most.
At Lazos Mitzvah Day we are committed to making a long-term impact and change; we believe change comes from proactive education. That is why every year we strive to add meaningful impact to our communities. Last Mitzvah Day under the Lazos umbrella, 12 countries, 23 cities and more than 1,000 volunteers and donors participated in social action projects that improve our communities in the long term.
For the first time in 2022 we saw cities like Bariloche, Córdoba and Tucumán in Argentina, El Salvador, Paraguay, Barcelona and Zaragoza in Spain, Peru and Venezuela get involved.
As many of you already know, each year we are inspired by a different Mitzvah Day theme and this 2022 we were really able to “Share Every Mitzvah”. We strongly believe that sharing each mitzvah is possible through collaboration and the ideas that make sense to us that ensure we are helping out in the best possible way.
The projects included painting a mural for a clinic for children with cerebral palsy in El Salvador; restoration of green spaces in Paraguay; health and psychology classes for women with breast cancer and survivors in Costa Rica; beach clean-ups in Costa Rica and Barcelona; activities and hundreds of meals prepared for homeless people in Chile and Mexico; recreational activities and gifts for the elderly in Chile and Venezuela; finance and time management classes for refugees and migrants in Panama; and interfaith action with the local food bank in Zaragoza, Spain in collaboration with the Islamic community.
All the projects and moments lived have been possible thanks to the leaders who inspire others while always being aware of the needs of their city and their country. We are proud to highlight the education and health days in Rosario that this year for the first time have been in collaboration with South Africa, a project inspired by Mitzvah Day and to be replicated in other countries and throughout the year.
Thank you very much to everyone who joined this memorable Lazos Mitzvah Day for continuing to inspire us and continue the long-term social impact from each country.
