M&S makes scents of spring cleaning
IT’S THE marathon cleaning season again — and M&S has turned housework into aromatherapy, with its cleaning range. As M&S says: “This is not just any homecare range… this is the biggestever M&S homecare range that’s no marks and all sparkle. From cleaning to laundry, and everything else in between, there’s no dirt, stain or mark the 60-strong range won’t remove. It’s M&S’s most high-powered, efficient cleaning range ever.”
The products come in bespoke fragrances, blended in top perfume houses, using essential oils to create signature fragrances that harmonise. Think zen-like spa meets high-performance cleaning. They are perfect for families, with a range of products with antibacterial and antiviral ingredients to keep homes clean, free of germs and smelling brilliant too. And for those with sensitive skin, look out for seven products without fragrance and enzymes, all endorsed by Allergy UK.
The laundry liquids and conditioners have been developed with quick wash cycles and low-temperature washes in mind, meaning you can launder using up to 60 per cent less energy (moving from a 40-degree to a cold wash) but still get high-performance cleaning.
In a recent survey of M&S customers, the fragrance of cleaning products was cited as an important factor in choosing cleaning products by 64 per cent — beaten only by efficacy (94 per cent).
Out of those tested, the most appealing smells for household cleaning products was citrus (70 per cent), followed by lavender (32 per cent) and floral (31 per cent), all represented in the M&S range.
The cleaning products include almond and sweet orange multi-surface cleaner; coastal eucalyptus and sage bathroom surface cleaner; Italian lemon and ginger kitchen surface cleaner; French lavender and peony fabric freshener spray and honeysuckle and willow concentrated disinfectant.
For laundry there is concentrated nonbio liquid, three-in-one non-bio capsules and ironing water, all in jasmine and green tea fragrance.
Sensitive skin is catered for with special multi-surface cleaner, washing up liquid, non-bio laundry liquid and fabric conditioner.
Some M&S customers have also revealed they use cleaning as a form of relaxation. A study published in the journal Mindfulness found giving the shelves a quick dust, wiping down the kitchen, or even organising the cupboards had been just as beneficial to someone’s mental health as using a mindfulness app.
The study saw that, aside from the benefits of having a cleaner home, the relationship between a clean house and mental health can help you reduce your anxiety. People who were mindful when washing dishes — taking the time to smell the soap and to take in the experience — reported a 27 per cent reduction in nervousness, along with a 25 per cent improvement in “mental inspiration.” By taking this approach,
cleaning could even be an antidote to pre-Passover stress.
Whether you find it easier to speedclean, have an am/pm cleaning routine or get stuck in for a day of cleaning, the range at M&S has everything you need for excellent results. We’re talking shiny floors, beautifully fragranced rooms and fabrics, and sparkling (and scented) surfaces.
The craze for cleaning has taken over social. #CleanTok itself has over 64.3 billion views. Inspired by #CleanTok, M&S has developed the ultimate speed clean, am/pm routine for a spafragranced and sparkling clean home right through the day.
