CONSETT and North Shields will take their place in today’s FA Vase fourth-round draw after securing impressive wins on Saturday.

The Steelmen – Vase finalists in 2020 – were in dominating form as two goals from Colin Larkin and one apiece from Arjun Purewal and Dale Pearson helped them canter to a 4-0 win at Northern League rivals Newcastle Benfield.

North Shields came through a more difficult test at Northern Counties East side Barton Town.

The Robins – Vase winners in 2015 – got themselves in front on the half-hour mark as midfielder David Robinson linked up with Dan Wilson to open the scoring.

An equaliser from Ben Hinchliffe got the hosts back on level terms ahead of half-time, but an own-goal from keeper Mike Emery restored North Shields’ lead.

Tom Waudby looked to have sent the tie to a penalty shoot-out with a last-gasp equaliser – but there was one last dramatic twist in the tale as Ryan Carr pounced to crash home a winning goal in the third minute of injury time.

Billingham Synthonia saw their impressive run ended by a 3-0 defeat at Wythenshaw­e Town. A brace from forward Dean Smalley and a first-half strike from Max Leonard was enough to give the hosts a solid win against a Synners side left annoyed by an unpunished first-half challenge that left new signing Ryu Williamson with a serious leg injury.

Whickham’s good form under Tony Fawcett continued with a hard-earned 2-0 home win against West Auckland Town in Northern League Division One.

The Lang Jacks were reduced to ten men when Zak Atkinson saw red in the latter stages of the first half – but a Nathan Greenwood brace was still enough to earn his side a fifth win in their last six games.

Billingham Town earned a 2-1 win at Seaham Red Star thanks to two goals from Connor Rennison.

Two second-half goals from Shaun Ryder ensured Whitley Bay’s woes continued as they fell to a defeat by the odd goal in five at Northaller­ton Town.

West Allotment Celtic took the honours in an entertaini­ng affair with Guisboroug­h Town.

The two sides looked on their way to a share of the spoils as goals from Allotment duo Liam Beeston and Matty Hayton sandwiched efforts by Louis Johnson and Ben Jackson.

A late strike from Allotment midfielder Rui Martins gave the points to Jay Bates’ side.

There was another five-goal game at Millfield as Crook Town edged out Newton Aycliffe.

Marc Costello and James Beauchamp netted for Aycliffe – but they were left empty-handed by goals from Joe Smith, Eddie Thomas and Ewan Forster.

Dean Holmes hit a hat-trick as Heaton Stanningto­n gave a further boost to their promotion hopes with a comprehens­ive 3-0 home victory against Esh Winning.

There was further good news for Dean Nicholson’s men as promotion rivals Easington Colliery and Newcastle University both dropped points.

Two Jack Pounder goals were not enough for the Colliers as James Wilson and Brandon Turnbull scored to earn Bedlington Terriers a 2-2 draw at Welfare Park.

The Uni fell to a 3-2 home defeat against Blyth Town as a Brandon Slater brace and a Joe Gibson goal helped the visitors to all three points.

Washington scored twice in second-half injury time as they were the victors in a stunning nine-goal game against local rivals Birtley Town.

There was heartache for basement club Durham City as they looked on their way to only their second point of the season against Sunderland West End.

Connor Randell’s equaliser looked to have secured a share of the spoils after their visitors had taken the lead with a goal from Brad Forster – but an injury-time strike from Harry Munday gave West End a dramatic win.

Two goals from Ryan Bennions and one from Carl Williams helped Redcar Town to a 3-1 home success against Jarrow.

Horden CW came from behind the earn a victory at Brandon United.

Kai Hewitson put Brandon ahead on 18 minutes but it was the visitors who took the honours with goals from Mark Ellison and Martin Fowler.

Late goals from Levi Collins and Dan Wright were not enough for Boldon CA as Andrew Brown, Callum Turnbull, Matthew Connolly and Konner Lamb all scored to give Ryton and Crawcrook Albion a 4-2 result over David Crumbie’s men.
