FELLING maintained their impressive start to the Premier Division season with a seven-wicket away victory over reigning champions

South North.

South North won the toss and opted to bat first. Only captain Adam Cragg had a noteworthy score with 58. South North finished on 123 all out, from 34.4 overs. Travis Norris took 4-28 and Paul Leonard 3-20.

In reply, Felling’s Joe Cracknell made 42, and team-mate Oliver Metcalfe added 30 not out, to take their team to a winning score of 124-3, achieved in 22.4 overs.

Benwell Hill hosted Sunderland at Denton Bank. Benwell Hill batted first, Kyle Coetzer getting them off to the best start possible with 93 not out, in their total of 220 all out. In reply, Sunderland slumped to 97 all out in 29.2 overs, giving Benwell Hill victory by 123 runs.

Burnmoor played hosts to

Newcastle and elected to bat. Opener Riley Blunt got them off to a good start with 36, ably supported by Marcus Brown with 45, Paul Craig with 47 and Waqas Maqsood with 38.

After facing 49.4 overs, Burnmoor were all out for 257. Captain Jesse Tashkoff (3-32) and Brodie Glendinnin­g (3-33) took the wickets.

Newcastle struggled until Tashkoff contribute­d 45, with Ben Quirk adding 35, but it was too little too late as they slumped to a 91-run defeat with a final score of 169 all out. Maqsood proved he was just as capable with the ball as he took 4-40 and Graeme Bridge took 3-26.

Burnopfiel­d welcomed Tynemouth and chose to bat first, getting off to a fantastic start with Alasdair Appleby hitting 37, John Oswell adding 42, David Seymour 53 and captain Matthew Oswell 50. The team were all out for 248 after 47.1 overs. Esam Rahman took 3-48 and Martin Pollard 3-42.

Tynemouth replied with 47 from their captain, opening batsman Matthew Brown. Andrew Smith assisted with 32, Stuart Poynter added 45, and Joseph Snowdon was 45 not out. After 48.3 overs, Tynemouth eventually reached their target with a winning total of 249-8. Matthew Oswell, Tom Foster and Gareth Breese took two wickets each for Burnopfiel­d.

Whitburn travelled to Chester-leStreet and put themselves in to bat first. Lee Henderson scored 75. Jack Burnham contribute­d 147 from 112 balls, to take Whitburn to 283-5 in their 50 overs. Chester-le-Street fell short at 249 all out from 49.5 overs.

Captain John Coxon opened the batting with 49, and Jacob McCann added 74. Chester-le-Street dug deep, but Adam May (4-53) and Vishal Tripathi (3-37) knocked off the last seven wickets to help Whitburn to a 34-run win.

Eppleton played hosts to Hetton Lyons, batting first and ending with 93 all out. Opener Kyle Davis was top scorer with 29.

Liam Dixon gave an outstandin­g performanc­e with the ball, taking 7-21 from 10 overs, including two maidens.

Hetton Lyons had no problem reaching their target, romping to an eight-wicket victory. Jarvis Clay scored 57 not out, in his team’s 95-2, achieved in only 14.4 overs.
