Best reached by car, Bolam Lake is just off the A696, which connects Newcastle and Otterburn. Travelling from Newcastle, you’ll see signposts for Bolam Lake once you reach Belsay.

Once you arrive at the lake, there are three car parks run by Northumberland County Council.

The first hour of parking is free, up to two hours is £1.60 and over two hours is £3.

There’s a cafe and toilets at the Boathouse Wood Car Park, with the cafe recently reopening to indoor diners following the pandemic.
