Wheater ends Essex innings
ESSEX wicketkeeper Adam Wheater is to retire at the end of the season.
Wheater, 32, has made 380 appearances since his debut in 2008 in stints with his boyhood club and Hampshire.
His career haul includes 14 centuries and 450 dismissals and he said: “It’s been a tough call to make but the timing feels right.
“Not many players have the opportunity to play for their boyhood club so to be able to do that has been a dream. I couldn’t have asked for more.”
